This may well be beyond the remit of our project, but Lordrich currently provides more traditional hosting for a few (non-queer) groups. They pay up to £15/year and get:-
- scp and ssh access
- a public_html directory for serving their website
- php (and theoretically perl)
- mysql database access
- dns handled for a domain or subdomain of their choice
- Email forwarding through Postfix
- Mailman lists (run on lists.blogbound)
- Support
- Website management
Do we want to be offering more traditional hosting like this?
Kim does too. This could be a very good way to offset a potential colo machine! Sounds like a great idea to me esp given most of my sties are drupal based.
Another thought.
On top of this we could offer options to make hosted d5 sites that:
- share all the sites tables, so essentially being a group but with their own theme.
- share non of the sites tables (apart from user possibly), effectively allowing us to make hosted d5 sites.
Perhaps we could ask for one off donation for both of these if people take them up?
